Last time I tried a photo-a-day challenge, it was for a class. I took pictures representing health and fitness, and more specifically, representations of ME doing things to care for myself physically. I strayed from it quickly, and a lot of the images were uninteresting. The time before that was a 365-day challenge, and almost every photo was terrible. I had no idea how to use my camera, other than how to shoot in manual. It’s not difficult to see why I would be uninterested in doing yet another challenge.

I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to the digital darkroom. I'm a big believer in shooting the image as close to the final product as I can get it, and doing as little in Photoshop and Lightroom as possible. I believe a photo is made in camera, and I'm staunchly against using post-production as a method of saving a bad image.

It’s no secret that I love books. I think I like buying them as much as I like reading them. The thing is, sometimes I put them down and don’t pick them back up. That’s how I got myself into my 2014 New Year’s resolution: to finish every book I own that I have started. Turns out there were exactly 12 of them. I’ve been second shooting weddings for about two years. Last Saturday was another opportunity to do just that, but the experience was one of a kind. For starters, it was the first wedding that I traveled more than an hour for, and that was a lot of fun. The wedding was held at Lake Shetek, just outside Slayton, MN. The location was beautiful, despite the rain. Mike and Christine are a lovely couple, and a fantastic pair to work with. They were lively and fun, and in such good spirits!
